Accused in Kolkata rape-murder case allegedly stalked victim
The primary suspect in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape and murder case, Sanjay Roy, reportedly stalked the victim a day before the crime. According to Kolkata police, Roy admitted to observing the victim at the chest medicine ward on August 8. CCTV footage from that day shows Roy, a 33-year-old civic volunteer, leering at her and four other junior doctors. "The CCTV footage captures Roy glaring toward them," sources told News18.
Victim found dead following late-night seminar
The victim, a doctor at the hospital, was last seen alive in the early hours of August 9. She had been resting in the seminar hall at 1:00am where she spoke with a junior doctor around 2:30am before returning to sleep. The following morning, she was found dead. CCTV footage shows Roy entering the premises at 4:00am raising further suspicions about his involvement in the crime.
Accused shows no remorse, profiled as pervert
Psychoanalytic profiling of Sanjay Roy, conducted at the behest of the Central Bureau of Investigation, has painted a disturbing picture. The accused is described as a pervert and severe porn addict, with numerous pornographic clips found on his mobile phone. A CBI officer stated that Roy displayed an "animal-like instinct." During interrogation, Roy showed no signs of nervousness or remorse. "The man showed no repentance and narrated the entire episode giving every minute detail without hiccups," the officer told PTI.
Autopsy reveals brutal rape and murder, multiple injuries
The autopsy of the deceased doctor revealed she had been raped before being strangled to death. The report detailed 16 external and nine internal injuries on her body. Roy was arrested based on CCTV footage and a Bluetooth headset found at the crime scene. The victim's father has alleged that more than one person was involved in the crime, adding another layer of complexity to this gruesome case.
CBI considers polygraph test
The CBI is considering subjecting Roy, ex-principal of the RG Kar hospital Dr. Sandip Ghosh, and four other doctors to a polygraph test. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has criticized the West Bengal government and police for a 14-hour delay in registering the FIR. The estimated time of death was between 3:00am and 5:00am on August 9, with the CBI probing if there was a larger conspiracy behind this heinous crime.
