Sanjay Roy harassed another woman before doctor's rape-murder: Report
Sanjay Roy, the man accused of raping and murdering a 31-year-old doctor in Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, reportedly confessed to the crime during a polygraph test on Sunday. According to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Roy admitted visiting a red light area with a friend hours before committing the crime. However, he claimed not to have engaged in sexual activity during that visit.
Roy admits to molesting another woman prior to crime
In addition to his confession, Roy also admitted to molesting another woman in the street, as reported by India Today. This incident was captured on surveillance cameras. Furthermore, he reportedly video-called his girlfriend and requested her nude photos. Media reports indicate that she complied with his request and sent him the photos. After committing the rape and murder at the hospital, Roy visited his friend Anupam Dutta, a police officer, according to India Today.
Polygraph test flags misleading responses, reveals addiction
A Times of India report highlighted that Roy gave misleading responses during the polygraph test, which were flagged by the machine. The CBI also conducted a psychoanalytic profile of Roy, revealing his severe addiction to pornography. Several pornographic clips were found on his phone. The profile also suggested that Roy showed no remorse for his actions.
Roy's inconsistent statements and unexplained injuries
Before the polygraph test, Roy claimed innocence, alleging he was being framed. However, his statements were found to be inconsistent by the CBI and the police. He failed to provide satisfactory explanations for fresh injuries on his face and other body parts. CCTV footage also showed him in the corridor leading to the crime scene at 4:03am minutes before the crime occurred.
CBI probing involvement of Dr Ghosh
The CBI is investigating the involvement of Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of the medical college, who underwent a lie-detector test on Saturday. Last week, the Supreme Court questioned the Kolkata Police about their 12-hour delay in registering the FIR. The court also noted that Ghosh allegedly attempted to misrepresent the rape and murder as a suicide. Additionally, the agency is looking into allegations of financial irregularities against him.
