Mumbai: Woman slips while trying to board moving train, dies
A 50-year-old woman lost her life after she slipped into the gap between the train and a platform in Mumbai's Borivali station. Alka Patade, working with Bank of India, was on her way to office in BKC, a business-district in suburban Mumbai, when she slipped into the gap while trying to board a moving Churchgate-bound train amid morning-rush yesterday, a Railway police official said.
Patade was crushed under the train's wheels
She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead by doctors, the official said. Patade was crushed under the train's wheels and a passenger shot a video of her lying unconscious on the tracks. A senior Western Railway official said, "We have raised the platform-height at all stations from Churchgate to Virar and keep conducting drives to sensitize commuters about safe-travelling."
