The Indian Railways provides to the passengers, the option of transferring their confirmed railway tickets by submitting a request atleast 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure of the train. A person holding a confirmed ticket is free to transfer it to family members viz. mother, father, son, daughter, wife etc. Here are 6 rules you should know about Indian Railways' ticket transfer facility.
About method of booking, request numbers, transfer quota, government servants
First off, both online and offline tickets can be transferred. Further, the transfer request can be made only once per ticket. Such a request can be made only for 10% of the total number of group members. A ticket can also be transferred to another government servant on duty, if such request is made atleast 24 hours before the scheduled train departure.
About transferring ticket to fellow students, NCC cadets
Also, confirmed rail tickets can be transferred to fellow students of a recognized educational institute, in case the head of the institute makes a request atleast 48 hours in advance of the scheduled departure time. Plus, one can transfer a ticket to other cadets of NCC (National Cadet Corps), if request is made by the head of the group, 24 hours before scheduled departure.
