Following deaths of RSS, CPI (M) workers, Kannur shutdown
What's the story
The deaths of an RSS worker and CPI (M) activist in Kerala resulted in a shutdown of Kannur and Mahe (part of Puducherry) on Tuesday, with police being on their toes to prevent any violence.
Reportedly, houses and vehicles of seven workers of warring sides- CPM and RSS, were affected during clashes.
Both groups launched sharp attacks at each other after tension escalated.

Details
CPI (M) leader hacked to death, later RSS worker dies
Babu Kannipoyil (45), a local CPI(M) leader and former municipal councilor of Mahe died at 10 PM, Monday. Allegedly a group of RSS workers was behind the attack on Kannipoyil.
Almost half hour later, Shanej P (34), an auto-rickshaw driver and RSS worker was fatally stabbed to death, allegedly by CPM workers.
The bodies of deceased will be handed to respective families after post-mortem.

Violence between Marxists, RSS claimed 250 lives
In the last three decades, 250 lives were lost in violence between Marxists and RSS workers. To prevent further damage, Kannur superintendent of police Siva Vikram said they were keeping a strict vigil, and have identified a few perpetrators of crime.
