Police interrogates Rohit Shekhar's wife for third consecutive day
The Delhi Police interrogated Rohit Shekhar Tiwari's wife Apoorva at her residence for the third consecutive day yesterday in connection with her husband's murder case who was allegedly smothered to death on April 16, sources said. They said that experts from the Forensic Science Lab, Rohini also visited Rohit Shekhar's home in Defense Colony on Sunday where they recreated the crime sequence. Here's more.
No signs show Rohit Shekhar resisted while being smothered: Forensics
After recreating the crime sequence, the experts from the Forensic Science Lab opined that no signs were found which showed that Rohit Shekhar had resisted while he was being smothered. The team also conducted an examination of the vehicle in which he was made to lie down before being shifted to the ambulance. Police are close to cracking the case, said sources
Police had interrogated Apoorva on Saturday and Sunday as well. They are collecting evidence to strengthen their case and sources said they are close to cracking it. Sources said there are seven CCTV cameras at Rohit Shekhar's home, but two of them do not work.
No one entered, exited the house during the incident: Sources
"Rohit had gone to Uttarakhand to vote on April 12 and returned on the night of April 15," said the sources. "He could be seen on CCTV footage taking support of the wall while walking in an inebriated state. No one has come and gone out of the home at the time Rohit was smothered," they further said.
Apoorva and her family are money-minded people: Rohit's mother
Rohit's mother Ujjwala on Sunday alleged that her daughter-in-law Apoorva and her family are money-minded people, and wanted to acquire the entire property. She claimed that she would make more revelations in the near future, while denying reports of Rohit Shekhar having affair with anyone.
'Apoorva's family wanted to take control over my sons' properties'
"Apoorva's family wanted to take control of the properties of my sons, Siddharth and Rohit, because this house is near SC, where Apoorva is practicing," Ujjwala said, adding Apoorva was disappointed when Siddharth wanted to give his cousin Rajiv's son, Karthik, a share in the property. Rajiv has served our family since long and was also OSD to late ND Tiwari, she informed.
