Rewari Gangrape: Mastermind, who planned the crime, arrested
In the latest development in the gangrape of a former CBSE topper in Rewari, Haryana, the police has now arrested Nishu, the mastermind who planned abduction and rape. His call records helped police nab him. However, the two other accused, Pankaj and Manish, are still at large. Nuh Superintendent of Police (SP) Nazneen Bhasin is leading the SIT formed to investigate the case.
Doctor and tubewell owner, who aided accused, arrested too
Police have also arrested Deen Dayal, the owner of the tubewell where the crime happened; he has been booked him under IPC Section 120B. On September 12, Nishu had called Deen Dayal asking for the room. Further, after raping the victim, the accused called a doctor as the victim's condition worsened. The registered practitioner has also been booked under IPC Section 118, for not informing about the crime.
Doctor knew about crime, yet didn't inform police
"Dr Sanjeev's involvement is proved as it was in his knowledge that the girl was held by three boys and she was not conscious about the things happening. He was part of the plan till the end and he didn't inform any authority," said Bhasin.
Victim was made to drink liquid laced with sedatives, raped
On September 13, the 19-year-old was returning home from coaching class when she was abducted from a bus stop in Kanina. The accused arrived in a car, added sedatives to her drink, and raped her. After the incident, she was dumped at a bus stop. Later, the accused called her father saying she was unwell.
Victim's mother claims she will return compensation cheque
Her father told that the victim has recognized three men, but there were about 8-10 of them. All the three accused belong to the same village. Meanwhile, the mother spoke about returning Rs. 2 lakh cheque she got from Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary of District Legal Services Authority. "We want justice, not cheque. Is this the price of my daughter's respect?" she asked.
All angles of crime will be investigated, says police
Earlier, the victim's family alleged police of laxity and said accused were roaming free while their daughter was traumatized. To this, SP Bhasin said the priority was to nab the accused and they are looking into other aspects of the crime too. Notably, SP Rewari was removed from his position after the crime was reported, and given additional charge of Hisar.
Separately, Hooda calls for Khattar's resignation, latter calls incident 'unfortunate'
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda launched a sharp attack on Manohar Lal Khattar, said law and order in the state were in shreds, and that his successor should resign. Khattar, on the other hand, called the incident unfortunate. "It's even more unfortunate that one accused is an Army personnel. We've announced a reward of Rs. 1 Lakh on their head," he said.
