Rewari gang-rape: Armyman, another accused, arrested by SIT
On Sunday, the Haryana Police arrested an Indian Army soldier and another man in connection to the gang-rape of a 19-year-old girl in Rewari. Earlier, the SIT formed to investigate the case had arrested Nishu, and two other accused. Shrikant Jadhav, a senior police officer, said details like where the arrest of armyman Pankaj, and his accomplice Manish happened will be released soon.
Haryana shamed after girl drugged and raped
The victim was on her way to coaching center when the men abducted her on September 12. They kidnapped her, laced her drink with sedatives, and raped her in a secluded area. When the girl gained consciousness, she was again made to drink something. After the barbaric act, the accused dumped her at a bus stop. All the accused belong to her village, reportedly.
Army man's wife leaves village, wants to end marriage
Reportedly, the wife of armyman has left the village and wants to annul her marriage with Pankaj. She was being interrogated by the police about Pankaj's whereabouts. He was stationed at Kota, Rajasthan, but was at large after the rape. Her father came to the village and took her with him. Amit Kumar, husband of village sarpanch Sarita Devi, confirmed the wife's exit.
The others who have been arrested
Nishu planned the barbaric act. Reportedly, he asked Deen Dayal, the owner of the tube well, where the crime happened, for the room. After raping the victim, the accused called a certain Dr. Sanjeev, and the registered practitioner also didn't inform the authorities about the crime. Both Deen Dayal and Dr. Sanjeev were arrested and booked under relevant sections of IPC.
Family of victim returned cheque, demands justice
According to the victim's statement, she was raped by at least 8-10 men, though she recognized three. Expressing anger over the incident, her mother asked if this was the price they had to pay for sending their daughter to study? She also returned the Rs. 2 lakh cheque she got from Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary of District Legal Services Authority.
