Andhra Pradesh: Retired judge, wife commit suicide in quick succession
In a shocking and tragic incident, a retired judge and his wife committed suicide in quick succession outside the temple town of Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. The bodies of the deceased, retired additional district judge Pamuluru Sudhakar (62) and his wife Varalakshmi (56), were recovered from railway tracks outside Tirupati. The bodies were sent for post-mortem, and investigations are underway. Here are the details.
Details of the tragic double suicide
According to police, Sudhakar committed suicide by throwing himself under a train 10km outside Tirupati at around 11am on Friday. The news soon reached Sudhakar's children, Sandeep and Sabitha, who are both working as software professionals in Bengaluru. As they rushed home, their mother Varalakshmi reportedly went to the same spot and ended her life under a train at around 4pm on Friday.
Sudhakar committed suicide owing to health issues
Notably, Sudhakar left behind a suicide note which revealed that he had decided to end his life, unable to bear the trauma of a long-standing kidney ailment. However, it is unclear why his wife, Varalakshmi, decided to end her life too. Prima facie, one can only guess that grief over the death of her husband drove her to commit suicide.
