JEE Advanced results declared, Roorkee boy tops exam
IIT-Kanpur has declared the results of the JEE Advanced 2018 on its official website. Those who have cleared the exam will be eligible for admission into the prestigious IITs. Pranav Goyal (Roorkee zone) secured All-India Rank (AIR) 1. Meenal Parakh (Delhi), AIR 6, emerged the girls' topper. Here are all details about this year's results.
18,138 students have qualified for 11,279 seats across 23 IITs
The Advanced was held on May 20. More than 1.55L students had appeared for selection into 11,279 seats across 23 IITs. Now, 18,138 students have qualified, more than 1.6 times the number of seats available. They will have to undergo counseling to determine course and institute.
Meet the zone-wise toppers of the Advanced
Goyal, all-India topper, secured 337 marks out of a maximum 360. Parakh, the female topper, scored 318. Zone-wise toppers include AIR-8 Rishi Agarwal (Bombay, AIR-2 Sahil Jain (Delhi), AIR-5 KVR Hemant Kumar Chodipilli (Kharagpur), AIR-78 Ayush Kadam (Kanpur), and AIR-150 Prashant Kumar (Guwahati). The JEE Main topper, Suraj Krishna, secured AIR-49. Simarpreet Singh Saluja, who topped Delhi in Main, secured AIR-75.
2,076 girls, 6,204 SC/ST students qualified this time
This time, 2,076 girls have qualified against 16,062 boys. DNA reports 779 seats were reserved for girls. A total of 8,794 general candidates passed, compared to 3,140 OBC candidates and 6,204 SC/ST candidates. General students needed a minimum 126 to make it to the common rank list this time. For OBC, it was 114, and 63 for SC/ST.
What's next for those selected?
Successful candidates will now have to register for seat allocation. Application commences June 15 till June 25. The first round will be conducted on June 27, followed by at least two more, depending on requirements. To check the Advanced results, visit www.jeeadv.ac.in and click on the link given. Six students scored highest marks in Main this time
12L students had appeared for the Main this time. Among them, 2.3L, including 1.8L were boys and 50,000 girls, qualified for Advanced. The cutoff for all categories slipped noticeably this time. For the common rank list, it came down from last year's 81 to 74. The 2018 Main saw a unique moment: as many as six students secured 350/360, the maximum marks.
