Ram Mandir: Remains of ancient temple, idols, and pillars found
The ongoing construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, has "extracted" a fresh discovery that has left the country surprised. Several fragments of an ancient temple, including idols, statues, and pillars, have been unearthed at the site. While most of the pieces are damaged, all of them have been carefully preserved for further investigation and review.

The recovered remains are made of stones
Per reports, the ancient remains found today are large cravings made of stones. In the pictures making rounds on social media, one can see large statues of deities and traditional-style pillars, both of which feature age-old designs.
The General Secretary of the temple took it to X
Soon after the discovery, the General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra took to X to inform the world about the same. "Remains of an ancient temple found during excavation at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi. It includes many statues and pillars," he posted. Later, Champat Rai, the International Vice President of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), shared pictures of the newly extracted carvings.
Last week, pictures of Ram Mandir's first floor went viral
Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra, the official handle of Ram Mandir on X revealed the pictures of the temple's first floor, which is currently under construction. "Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir - First Floor," it captioned while posting the pictures. The Mandir is slated to open for the public in the third week of January 2024, as per a construction committee member.
Even in 2020, some ancient remains were discovered
In 2020, the New Indian Express reported that six pillars, a few idols of deities, flower structures, and a shivlinga were discovered on Ram Mandir's construction site. The shivlinga was five feet tall and the pillars were made of red sandstone and black touchstone. "On removing the debris from the site, pillars and other structures of ancient temples were discovered," said Rai.
