Meet this 'Real-life Indian Rapunzel' with 5'7'' long hair
What was your longest period of not getting a haircut done- a month, a year, probably? But, this Gujarat teenager hasn't cut her hair for 10 years, and today she has gained the title 'Guinness World Record: Longest Hair on a Teenager'. 16-year-old Nilanshi Patel has set a new record for the longest hair on a teenager, measuring 5 feet 7 inches. Here's more.
After bad-haircut at 6, Nilanshi decided against cutting it again
It was a bad haircut at the age of six, which led to Nilanshi's decision of not cutting her hair, ever. "I got a bad haircut, and it was really bad for me," she told Guinness World Records. She recalls crying about it, and deciding then and there that she wouldn't cut her hair again. Today, her beautiful brown locks measure 170.5 cm.
Nilanshi washes hair once a week, takes 30mins to dry
While Nilanshi is relieved of taking rounds at the salons, taking care of such extremely long hair by yourself is an arduous task. She said she washes her hair once a week and after it's clean, it surprisingly takes just half an hour to dry. However, it takes around an hour to comb the entire hair, something her mother happily assists with.
Nilanshi usually likes to make a bun, feels comfortable
There is no doubt that Nilanshi can fashion her hair in almost every style. She said she usually styles it as a long braid and also as a bun. The latter is go-to style for special occasions.
Nilanshi doesn't face any problems, calls her hair 'lucky charm'
As one can expect, Nilanshi is often called the 'Real life Rapunzel' by her friends. Also, she said she has often been asked if her hair comes in her way of doing normal things. But, she blatantly rejects them saying, "I don't face any problems, I do sports and all the things with my hair. It's a lucky charm for me!"
Nilanshi has no plans to cut her hair anytime soon
Nilanshi's mother has always supported her decision to grow her hair, and she has no plans to cut it anytime soon. Talking about scripting her name into the Guinness World Records, Nilanshi said, "I feel very excited and I feel very happy, and it is a big victory for me to be a world record and to set it on record." You go, girl!
