No end to rape? Now, 6-month-old Indore girl raped, killed
The historic Rajwada area of Indore saw a barbaric crime in the wee hours of Friday when a six-month-old baby girl was abducted, raped, and killed. The primary suspect, who was caught on CCTV camera, has been identified as Sunil Bheel (21). The case is one of several which has shaken India, after the savagery of the Kathua and Unnao rape cases. Here are the details.
The details of the incident
The baby was sleeping with her family - balloon-sellers - in a porch in Rajwada when she was abducted around 4:45am. The accused was sleeping close to the family and was seen carrying the baby on his shoulder on CCTV footage. The baby's blood soaked body was later found in a basement.
What does the police have to say?
"The infant had an injury on her head. The accused threw her to the ground. However, only the post-mortem report will verify if she died due to this or whether she was smothered," Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Indore, said. Bheel has not been arrested yet.
A wave of savagery and barbarity is sweeping India
The DIG of Police said that Bheel would be arrested soon. The incident is the latest in the recent spate of savage rape-murders which have shaken India. Following the Kathua and Unnao rape cases, India has seen several acts of savagery. This week, two minors were raped and murdered in UP and Chattisgarh. Earlier this month, another minor was raped and killed in Surat.
