Ram Temple's completion delayed to mid-April due to Holi
What's the story
The construction work of the Ram Temple complex in Ayodhya has been delayed by a month because of Holi, confirmed Nripendra Misra, chairman of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple Construction Committee.
He said many workers would be going back to their hometowns for the festival, so the progress on-site has been affected.
However, Misra assured the construction of the temple will be completed by April 15.
Timeline
Statues to be installed by end of April
Misra said the Goswami Tulsidas statue is expected to be installed by Monday (March 10).
About 20,000 cubic feet of stone still need to be laid in the temple, he said.
"All of the statues in the temples that are outside or inside the rampart will be here by April 30, and almost all of them will be installed between March 25 and April 15," he added.
Adjustments
Misra previously projected March completion date
In January, Misra had estimated a March deadline for the temple's construction. However, he now admits that challenges are being faced in beautifying around 20 acres of land and on Parkota—the "parikrama marg" of the temple.
The Ram Temple is being constructed in the traditional Nagara style with a length (east-west) of 380 feet, width of 250 feet, and height of 161 feet supported by a total of 392 pillars and 44 doors.
