Centre seeks WB government's report on violence during Ram Navami
Union Ministry of Home Affairs has sought a report from West Bengal government on incidents of arson and violence during Ram Navami processions in the last two days. Centre also asked about the steps being taken by the government to restore normalcy and action taken against those involved in violence. At least two persons were killed and nearly a dozen injured during the processions.
WB government deployed heavy police force during processions
The WB government has ordered heavy deployment of police force in violence-hit areas, besides lodging several cases of arson and rioting. Centre also offered assistance of paramilitary forces in the light of reports of continuing violence and tension in some districts of the state. A senior police officer lost a hand after a bomb was hurled at him during a clash in Raniganj area.
