How'll boys wearing low-waist jeans protect sisters?: Women's panel chief
The Rajasthan Commission for Women chairperson isn't pleased with the youths' sartorial choices today, especially the low-waist trousers that boys wear. "How can one, who can't even handle his jeans, protect sisters?" asked Suman Sharma, former chief of Rajasthan BJP's women's wing. But she had advice for women too, saying they shouldn't feel "unbound" in the name of freedom and cause "imbalance" in society.
'We need to prepare boys with broad chests'
Talking at a Women's Day event, Sharma rued, "There was a time when every girl desired a man who has broad chest and thick chest hair. But today, no broad-chested man can be seen." 'Zero figure' was in trend among girls, but why are boys wearing earrings, she wondered. "We need to prepare boys with broad chests; it's our (and mothers') responsibility to inculcate values."
'Women shouldn't feel unbound in the name of freedom'
Women too shouldn't feel "unbound." "Women cannot go a long way if they leave the men behind," Sharma said, adding both are "parallel" to each other. "Balance should be there in the society. Women should take a pledge that we will inculcate values in our children and play a positive and constructive role in building a good society," she said.
