Rajasthan officers to learn 'good-governance' from book on Modi's speeches
Rajasthan IAS officers will now learn 'good governance' from speeches by PM Narendra Modi, which he made when he was the CM of Gujarat. The Gujarat government has already sent over copies of 'Chintan Shivir' ('Camp for Contemplation') to Rajasthan. They will be distributed after the state government gives its formal approval. The speeches are from 2001-2014 on issues like governance, decision-making and time-management.
'Why book on CM's speeches and not PM's?'
"Officers will surely get motivated for good governance. Modi's speeches have strengthened India's image in foreign countries. People used to buy tickets to listen to his speeches, which shows how motivational his talks are," BJP leader KK Gupta said. However, Congress' Pratap Singh Khachariyawas said it would have been better "if they had compiled a book with Modi's PM speeches instead of his CM talks."
Development comes amid controversial proposal on civil services system
Incidentally, this comes amid reports that the PMO is mulling adding an extra assessment layer for selection of IAS, IPS and other bureaucrats on top of the current UPSC exam. If the move goes through, those who clear the exam will have to undergo a foundation course at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration; they will be allotted departments depending on their performance.
