Rajasthan: Voter-ID, PAN-card among 12 documents valid for casting votes
Besides voter identity card, 11 other documents can be used to prove identity for exercising one's franchise in the upcoming Lok Sabha election, according to a statement from the office of Rajasthan Chief Electoral Officer. According to the statement, voter's slip alone won't be enough for casting vote. One of the 11 alternative documents will be needed along with the voter's slip. Here's more.
Bank or post office passbooks having a photograph also valid
The voters will either have to show Electoral Photo ID Card (EPIC) card or any of the 11 other alternative documents along with voter slip to cast vote, the statement said. On the directions of Election Commission, besides EPIC card, passport, driving license, banks or post office passbooks having a photograph, and PAN card among others can be produced to cast vote.
Other documents include pension papers, Aadhaar, Health insurance smart card
Other documents that can be used to exercise franchise are photo ID card issued by state/central government, public sector undertakings or public limited companies; Registrar General of India and National Population Registrar or MGNREGA job card. Health insurance smart card issued by the labor ministry, pension document with a photo or Aadhaar cards will also be valid during the elections.
