Railways announces exam details for over 1L vacancies
The Indian Railways has announced exam details for 1.16L posts, for which it has received 2.27cr applications. Scrutiny of applications, which is in the final stage, will be done by July 10. Exams will be conducted during September-November. "The appointments will be made by March-April 2019," Board Chairman Ashwani Lohani said yesterday. Posts on offer include loco pilots, crane drivers, blacksmith and carpenters.
Computer-based exam and physical efficiency tests to decide selection
Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of performance in computer-based aptitude exams and document verification. For some posts, candidates will have to undergo physical capacity tests. SC/ST candidates will be given free sleeper class tickets during the recruitment process.
Question papers to be issued in 15 languages
Candidates will be tested in Mathematics (number system, fractions, percentages, time, profit and loss, algebra, geometry, trigonometry etc), General Intelligence (alphabetical/number series, coding and decoding, syllogism, Venn Diagram, analytical reasoning, arguments and assumptions etc), General Science (Class 10 level) and Current Affairs. Question papers will be issued in 15 languages, including Urdu, Bengali, Gujarati, Konkani, Assamese, Malayalam, Manipuri, Odia and Telugu.
Delay in original schedule have led to protests
According to the initial announcement in February, exams were to be conducted in April-May, but delays in the schedule have triggered protests. The group 'Rozgaar Maange India' demonstrated outside the Rail Bhavan in Delhi on June 29 demanding urgent redressal. Addressing concerns, Lohani said, "We will complete their physical and psychological exams by December-January and by March they will be appointed."
NorthEast Frontier Railway is looking for six medical practitioners
