No more 'Rail Neer' water for Rail Bhavan headquarters
Railway Board issued a circular on May 16 saying that according to the demands of the officials and the staff association, three RO plants have been installed in the Rail Bhavan premises in January, therefore Rail Neer water will not be supplied there. It has asked officials to either bring water from home or drink the water of the RO plants. Here's more.
One of the many measures undertaken to cut costs
Sources said this was one of the many measures undertaken by the ministry to cut costs. Every official (according to rank) has a fixed amount that they can spend on refreshments and the board feels that this privilege is being misused, the sources said. According to unofficial estimates, around 1,000 Rail Neer bottles are supplied to the Rail Bhavan every day.
Drinking water tanks at Rail Bhavan not cleaned regularly
Shiv Gopal Mishra of the All India Railwaymen's Union said that those other than the officers drink the RO water, and its quality is not good. Once everybody starts drinking the RO water, the RO water plant will be cleaned regularly. The circular also said that the required quality test results found the RO water to be at par with the Rail Neer water.
