Raid unmasks corrupt Andhra babu, assets worth Rs. 60cr found
In a major crackdown on corruption, the Andhra Pradesh police on Monday arrested a government employee after assets worth Rs. 60 crore were recovered during multiple raids at his properties, a sharp contrast to his monthly salary of Rs. 1 lakh. Who is Pasuparthi Pradeep Kumar?
According to a Hindustan Times report, Kumar, who hails from Kurnool district's Chakrala village, had joined government service as a building inspector in May 1984. His monthly remuneration was Rs. 1,300 then. In 1991, he was promoted as a town planning supervisor. Over the years, he has held several positions before being appointed as the additional chief urban planner.
Kumar owns 4 flats, 5 plots, 9.2-acre land and more
In the Anti-Corruption Bureau's 12 raids conducted in Andhra and Telangana, five residential plots, four flats and 9.2-acre agricultural land in Krishna, Anantapur and Kadapa districts were found. A car, two-wheeler, 2.7kg gold, 12.5kg silver, two platinum rings, cash and fixed deposits worth Rs. 35 lakh and household items worth Rs. 21 lakh were also recovered from Kumar's possession.
Kumar used utensils, keychains made of silver
Interestingly, all the utensils in Kumar's house, lamps used for prayers and even keychains were made of silver. He would often gift gold and diamond jewelry to his wife. Kumar maintained such lifestyle despite no ancestral wealth, the police told HT.
