Why can't a hardworking Indian relate to Rahul Gandhi?
Rahul Gandhi comes, he sees, he goofs-up, he comes again, he sees again, and he goofs-up again. And, the cycle repeats. While an average hard-working Indian strives hard for victory, this man always looks for 'moral victory.' Was yesterday his 108th moral victory of 2018? That he is privileged is an understatement. That life gives him umpteen chances is an established fact. But, an average Indian can't relate to him. We tell you why.
We studied 10 hours/day, no-body appreciated us "for efforts"
At 13, every Indian student is shown the 'IIT dream'. We are asked to work hard 'now' so that we can have a productive life 'later'. On another note, I am still looking for that 'later'. My middle-class Indian parents have never appreciated me for the efforts I put in. They always want to see the results. Even when I think I have 'arrived', they tell me to dream big. RaGa, on the other hand, is appreciated because he just shows up at work.
Life (or rather journalists) don't keep giving us chances
The universe, in all its infinite wisdom, has only given us finite number of chances. Plenty of start-ups fail, businesses shut down, sportsmen retire early, geniuses are written off - because the world is not always kind. But, our man has been given so many chances by every journalist there is. Everytime he speaks, it seems he has 'arrived' and the media goes gung-ho. He has been 'coming of age' for decades now.
When we go for a presentation, we rehearse 10 times
Goes without saying, everyone makes mistake. But, when an average middle class person errs in front of his boss/clients/investors, he regrets, thinks hard. And, tries not to repeat it. I can't tell you how many times I think of "what if" scenarios. Every time I make a mistake, I, like most Indians, compulsively overthink and analyze it to bits. Does Rahul do that?
When we will turn 50, we won't be called 'young-Indian'
And, here comes something everyone is most emotional about. Even at my age and with my glowing skin, I am not called a young Indian anymore. I am expected to behave a certain way, and so are you. This man, who is just 5 years younger to Amit Shah, is called a young Indian every time he comes clean shaven. Why, oh, why?
