India successfully test-fires indigenous short-range QRSAM missile
India has successfully test-fired the indigenous Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air (QRSAM) missile from Chandipur, near Balasore, Odisha. The indigenously-developed missile has a strike range of 25-30 kms. It can hit multiple targets and is equipped with an all-weather weapon system which can track and fire. All sub-systems were found to be working well and met all requirements, sources said.
This was the second trial in a month
Monitored by DRDL Director MSR Prasad, RCI Director BVHS N Murthy and ITR Director BK Das, this was the second developmental trial of the missile with an aerial target. The first launch was conducted on June 4. Defence Minister Arun Jaitley lauded the successful trial as an important milestone for the indigenous surface-to-air missiles development process.
