Pune: Two-year-old abducted, sexually assaulted, strangled
The body of a two-year-old in Pune was found a few metres away from her home hours after being kidnapped. Primary reports suggested she was sexually assaulted and strangled. The girl's family had moved from Latur to Dhayari a few months ago. An FIR has been lodged for kidnapping, rape, murder and violations of the POCSO Act. Police are yet to make an arrest.
What happened?
According to police, the girl was kidnapped from her house on the night of October 21 when the rest of the family was sleeping. When her parents found out around 11:30pm, they approached police. After an initial search revealed nothing, cops registered a missing person complaint. Finally at about 7am, her body was found. There were scratches on her face and shoulder.
Police suspect a known person was involved
The parents, daily wage laborers, were working at a packaging factory. They were temporarily staying in a two-storeyed building which mostly housed workers of the factory. Police said someone put a hand through their ground-floor apartment window and unlatched the door, which was close by. The parents said they didn't hear anyone. Police suspect the crime was committed by someone known to the family.
