Pune techie bleeds to death while onlookers click photos
In yet another case of public apathy, a 25-year-old youth Satish Prabhakar Mete, succumbed to death as he did not receive timely help from passersby at Indrayaninagar corner in Bhosari, Pune. The onlookers shot videos and clicked photos of the accident rather than take the bleeding man to the hospital. The Pune techie became a victim of hit-and-run case on Wednesday evening.
Man could have been saved with timely help, said doctors
The brutal accident which left the Pune techie dead came to light after Kartikraj Kate, a dentist from Bhosari stopped to help Mete. Kate took the profusely bleeding man to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital in Pimpri but was declared brought-dead by doctors. Doctors said that had the onlookers taken him to the hospital immediately, he would have been saved.
Inquiry underway, says police
Senior inspector of the Bhosari MIDC police station Bhimrao Shingade said that Mete was a victim of a hit-and-run accident. Shingade appealed to people to contact the police station if they either have the registration number of the vehicle or if they got hold of any information about it.
Blood on roads
Cases of public apathy have been on a rise and it's been appalling. Here are some of the cases which happened in 2017 itself. A 17-year-old boy succumbed to injuries after bus run him over but onlookers were busy clicking pictures instead of helping him. In another, a class 10th girl from Meerut and two college students from Mumbai died in a similar fashion.
