Pune: 11-year-old raped by father, brother, grandfather repeatedly over 5yrs
In a horrifying case of child sexual abuse, an 11-year-old girl was allegedly repeatedly raped and sexually abused by her father, brother, grandfather, and distant uncle over the last five years on separate occasions, the Pune Police revealed on Saturday. The incidents of sexual abuse reportedly came to light after a recent "good touch and bad touch" session at her school.
School counselor lodged FIR against father, other relatives
According to reports, the child had narrated her ordeal to a counselor during the "good touch and bad touch" session at her school. After learning about the shocking details, the counselor had informed the school authorities of the same and reportedly lodged a first information report (FIR) against her father, teenage brother, grandfather, and distant uncle at Pune's Bund Garden Police Station on Friday.
Father began sexually abusing her five years ago
The girl's family hails from Bihar but currently residing in Pune. Her father is a daily wager while her mother does odd jobs, reported Hindustan Times. Her father began sexually abusing her in 2017 in Bihar. They later shifted to Pune where her brother raped her multiple times in 2020; her grandfather and uncle abused her in January and May 2021 on several occasions.
Not a case of gang rape, says police officer
"The girl's elder brother started sexually assaulting her around November 2020. Her grandfather and a distantly-related uncle used to touch her inappropriately," said Police Inspector (Crime) Ashwini Satpute. However, the police officer said that it was not a case of gang rape as all the incidents took place on separate occasions and the accused may not have been aware of each other's crimes.
No arrests have been made so far, investigation ongoing
The police said that they have registered a case under different sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) but no arrests have been made so far. "The case is under investigation and no arrest has been made till now," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II) Sagar Patil was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
Accused booked under IPC Sections 354, 377 and POCSO Act
The survivor's 45-year-old father and 14-year-old brother have been under IPC Section 376 for rape. Meanwhile, her 60-year-old grandfather and 25-year-old uncle have been booked under IPC Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty). They have also been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, said the police.
