    What's the story

The Bihar Government has been successful in setting up a primary school at every 1km while a middle and secondary school at every 3km and 5km respectively, the In-charge Minister (Education) Shravan Kumar told the Bihar Assembly yesterday.

The opposition walked out of the Assembly expressing dissatisfaction over the Minister's reply and also for the absence of the Education Minister in the House.

Bihar government is gradually moving towards its goal

Out of 8,391 panchayats of the state, there were middle schools in 5,059 panchayats and high schools in 2,200 panchayats.

The government has also relaxed the land requirement for setting up a high school; it was reduced to 0.75 acre from one acre.

The government has decided to provide hassle-free education loan to students to pursue higher education through Bihar Student Credit Card.

Meanwhile, Minister Shravan Kumar also inadvertently mispronounced the word "Rashtrapita (Father of the Nation) Mahatma Gandhi" as "Rashtrapati (President) Mahatma Gandhi" while speaking in the Assembly. However, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was quick to correct by reminding his Minister that it is "Rashtrapita".
