TN: Pregnant woman falls as cop kicks bike, dies
In a disturbing incident, a pregnant woman in Tiruchirappalli (TN) died after falling from a motorcycle when a police officer kicked the bike. 30-year-old Usha, four months pregnant, was riding pillion when it happened. Her death triggered intense protests in the city. Clashes broke out between locals and police. Kamaraj, the officer, has now been arrested for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

Raja was trying to flee when cop reportedly kicked bike
According to Raja, the husband, they were near the BHEL headquarters at Thuvakudi when police asked them to stop; Raja wasn't wearing a helmet. He tried to flee, but Kamaraj chased them on another bike and then allegedly kicked theirs. Raja couldn't maintain balance and the couple fell. An injured Raja and Usha were rushed to hospital, where she was declared dead.
Protestors take to the roads demanding strict action
Kamaraj, who reportedly fled from the scene after the accident, was arrested and remanded. Police denied that he kicked the bike, but have agreed to analyze CCTV footage. Meanwhile, a large number of people gathered on the Thanjavur-Trichy national highway yesterday night and protested against police. They alleged that Kamaraj was drunk when the accident happened. Police resorted to baton charge to clear protestors.
