Surat: Togadia alleges murder conspiracy after vehicle hit by truck
VHP president Pravin Togadia alleged a conspiracy to kill him after his vehicle was hit by a truck today near Kamrej in Surat, Gujarat. Togadia escaped unhurt. However, he claimed he could have been killed if his car wasn't bulletproof. He also said that despite being given Z-plus security cover, no escort car was provided. Meanwhile, the truck was seized and the driver arrested.
Surat rural superintendent of police describes what happened
According to Surat rural superintendent of police MK Nayak, "A truck hit the vehicle carrying Togadia and another person, about a kilometre away from the Kamrej town, when he was on his way to Surat to attend a function. Togadia escaped unhurt."
Why was there no escort vehicle despite Z-plus security?: Togadia
Accusing the Gujarat government of "deliberately weakening" his security, Togadia elaborated, "After the truck hit our vehicle, it hit a divider. Despite that, the driver didn't apply brakes," adding it's a "matter of concern." Moreover, there should have been a pilot vehicle ahead, an escort vehicle and an ambulance behind, and a vehicle on the side. But there was no escort vehicle, he claimed.
In January, Togadia had made similar sensational claims
This comes less than two months after Togadia claimed plans were being made to have him killed. The Central IB has been harassing him to silence his "voice for Hindutva," he alleged. He said this while explaining his mysterious disappearance for a day, and urged the Gujarat crime branch to not succumb to "political pressure".
