Body of man killed by 77-year-old found; head still missing
The body of a man, allegedly killed by 77-year-old Gurugram resident Harnek Singh Dhillon, has been recovered from a canal near Ludhiana. Police said they had found five chopped body parts in the canal. However, the head of the victim, suspected to be 51-year-old Jaskaran Singh, is still missing. Meanwhile, Dhillon's suspected accomplice has been identified and a manhunt is on. Here's more.
Dhillon allegedly confessed to murdering Singh on October 14
Following his arrest earlier this week, Dhillon allegedly confessed to murdering Jaskaran Singh, a flour mill owner, and his own wife, Gurmel. According to police, Dhillon owed money to Singh, and had planned the murder. The 77-year-old had called Singh over to his house on October 14 on the pretext of repaying him, and had killed him with a sword.
Dhillon murdered his wife for withdrawing from 'suicide pact'
After killing Singh, Dhillon, with the help of an accomplice, chopped up the body and disposed of it. Dhillon's wife Gurmel was not at home during the murder. When she returned, Dhillon allegedly entered into a 'suicide pact' with her as he was afraid of getting caught. However, Gurmel withdrew from the pact, and Dhillon murdered her before slitting his own wrist and calling relatives.
Dhillon confessed to the crimes after getting arrested
Subsequently, police arrived at Dhillon's residence and rushed him to a hospital. As Dhillon was recovering, police learnt from Gurmel's autopsy report that she had been murdered. Dhillon was then arrested on Wednesday, and allegedly confessed to the crimes. He also disclosed the location of Jaskaran's body, which led police to discover it. Currently, police are searching for his accomplice, whose identity has not been revealed.
