Police drive vehicle into AIIMS hospital ward to arrest man
In another case of "things that happen only in India," a police vehicle drove into the emergency ward of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh on Tuesday to arrest a nurse. The stunt was reportedly carried out to arrest a nursing officer, Satish Kumar, accused of sexually harassing a female doctor. A video capturing this unusual pursuit, showing the vehicle maneuvering through a busy ward filled with patients' beds on either side, has since gone viral.
Accused nurse suspended amidst allegations
Kumar was alleged to have sexually harassed a female doctor within an operation theater at AIIMS Rishikesh. According to Rishikesh police officer Shankar Singh Bisht, Kumar had also reportedly sent an obscene SMS to the victim. Following these serious allegations, Kumar was promptly suspended from his duties at the hospital. The incident sparked significant outrage among the hospital's staff members, who protested outside the dean's office and also approached the police.
