Kerala Sahitya Akademi awardee B Sujatha Devi dies at 72
Poetess and winner of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi award, B Sujatha Devi, passed away at a private hospital in Kerala's capital Thiruvananthapuram today following a brief illness. She has been under medical care at SUT Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram for age-related ailments. She was 72 and is survived by two sons, Parameshwaran and Padmanabhan. Her husband P Gopalakrishnan Nair had died earlier.
Kerala CM Pinrayi Vijayan condoled the poetess' death
Sujatha Devi was the younger sister of Poetess Sugatha Kumari and late Hridya Kumari Sujatha Devi, also a well-known travel writer, had served as an English professor in various government colleges in the state, including the Maharaja's college in Kochi. Condoling her death, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, said Sujatha Devi was noted for her poetry collections and travel writings.
