PM Modi launches a new CA course on GST
Following the midnight launch of GST, PM Narendra Modi addressed the country's Chartered Accountants. Emphasizing their importance, especially after demonetization and GST-rollout, he urged them to join him in cleaning India's economy. Chartered Accountants Day celebrations
PM Modi spoke about the impact of GST, the new tax regime, on the economy and explained its benefits. On the occasion of Chartered Accountants Day, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) organized an event at New Delhi's Indira Gandhi Stadium. Besides the PM, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia also attended the event.

Addressing the gathering, Modi stated: "The foundation day of ICAI also marks the beginning of a new economic chapter in India's history. Today, the country begins a new economic journey, the principle of one nation, one market; one tax is a reality now."
Chartered Accountants crucial for healthy economy
PM Modi said chartered accountants' role in building a healthy economy is important. He said a CA's signature is "powerful" and even the government believes the accounts signed by them, urging them to use the power carefully. He reminded them to understand their profession's greatness and asked them to carry it forward. He said the newly-launched course will strengthen CAs' financial skills.
Swachh Bharat and Operation Clean Money go hand-in-hand: Modi
PM Modi said India cannot move ahead even if some people have the "habit of stealing". He said the government is committed to tough action against black money holders and firms hiding black money. He added data mining is going on and transactions of more than three lakh registered firms have come under scrutiny, which helped the government identify over 47,000 shell companies.
People with black money will not be spared
PM Modi asked CAs why only 25 of them were prosecuted for irregularities while there are over 1,400 long-pending cases. He asked CAs to warn any black money dealers they know that they will not be spared. He added they will face even more difficulties once Swiss banks start sharing real-time data. He asserted the government isn't concerned about political implications.
