Now send birthday greetings to PM Modi personally
On the occasion of PM Modi's birthday, a section has been introduced on the Narendra Modi app that enables users to send their wishes directly to him. People can send customized greeting cards in which they can use their own photos with the PM, they will then receive a personalized video from him. People can also share thoughts, anecdotes and wishes.
Narendra Modi's humble beginnings
Narendra Damodardas Modi was born on 17 September 1950, to a family belonging to Ghanchi caste in Vadnagar, Gujarat. He was the third among four children and initially helped his father sell tea. His first interaction with politics came at the age of six, when he came into contact with a Congressman Rasikbhai Dave. 2 years later, Modi joined Vadnagar RSS shakha youth club.
Initiation into politics
After leaving home, Modi regained his links with the RSS in Ahmedabad and started working at the organization's headquarters. He soon acquired important duties and by early 1980s, was handed leadership roles. In 1987, he was appointed the person in-charge within RSS to oversee the BJP and in 1998, was appointed as General Secretary. In 2001, he replaced Keshubhai Patel as CM of Gujarat.
PM Modi's itinerary for the day
PM Modi was accorded a grand reception on his arrival in Ahmedabad on Friday night. On Saturday morning, he arrived in Gandhinagar to meet his mother and seek her blessings. Later in the day, he will visit the tribal district of Dahod to inaugurate Kadana-Hafeshwar irrigation project and then to Navsari in Surat, where he will distribute disability aid-kits to more than 1000 beneficiaries.
Modi's Gujarat visits- a calculated move?
The state BJP believes that frequent visits by Modi, will be critical in increasing its chances of winning in next year's election. BJP is facing a challenge in Gujarat in the aftermath of Patel quota-agitation and Dalit community protests after the Una incident. Last month Modi visited Gujarat twice, to condole the death of Sawminarayan sect's leader and inaugurate an irrigation scheme in Saurashtra.
PM's birthday cake all set to break world record
A Surat-based bakery, Atul Bakery, along with NGO Shakti Foundation, is preparing a cake for PM Modi, to enter Guinness World Records as the tallest pyramid cake. The present record for the tallest pyramid cake, measuring 1.74m, is held by Poland's MTR Rzeszow International Fair.
