Impressed with 'Dangal', South Korea's First Lady to meet Phogat-family
South Korean First Lady Kim Jung-sook has invited the Phogat family for tea in New Delhi during her visit to India. The wife of President Moon Jae-in saw Aamir Khan starrer 'Dangal' in her country and wanted to meet the family on whose story the movie was based. Mahavir Singh Phogat said it was an honor that the First Lady invited his family.
Jung-sook watched 'Dangal' with students
Jung-sook met Indian students and watched 'Dangal' with them in the run-up of Moon Jae-in's India visit. The couple started their state visit on July 8 and will stay here till July 11. "After watching the film with Indian students, she liked it and expressed keenness to meet us," Geeta Phogat's cousin Rahul Phogat said. The entire family is looking forward to the meeting.
When 'Dangal' released, it scripted history
'Dangal' released in 2016 and broke, and made, many box office records. Featuring Aamir Khan as Mahavir Singh Phogat, the movie chronicled the father's journey of fighting patriarchal norms to make his daughters Geeta (played by Fatima Sana Shaikh) and Babita (essayed by Sanya Malhotra) wrestlers. Upon release, the movie gained widespread appreciation and went on to become an all-time blockbuster.
Mahavir Singh Phogat is glad 'Dangal' is strengthening ties
An elated Mahavir Singh Phogat said it gave him immense pleasure that the movie made on his family's life played a part in strengthening ties between Indian and North Korea. On his maiden visit to India, Moon Jae-in went to Delhi's Akshardham temple on Sunday. He is expected to hold defense talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will attend India-Korea Business Forum.
