#Elections2019: Second phase of elections underway in 11 states
The second phase of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections is being held in 95 seats across 11 states and one Union Territory. They include Assam, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Manipur, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and Puducherry. Polling was originally scheduled for 97 Lok Sabha seats but the Election Commission canceled polling in Vellore, Tamil Nadu and Tripura East constituencies.

All constituencies in Tamil Nadu except Vellore are going to polls in the second phase. Karnataka is going to polls in the second phase too. Meanwhile, LS elections in eight seats in Uttar Pradesh and five seats in Bihar are also being held on Thursday. Ten Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra will also go to polls in this phase apart from elections in Chhattisgarh.
EC canceled polls in Vellore over use of money power
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, polling in all major states except for Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Gujarat, Punjab, and Haryana will be held in more than one phase. 1,644 candidates were contesting from 97 LS constituencies under Phase 2 but the EC canceled polls in Vellore over the use of money power while Tripura East polling was postponed to 23 April.

There are several prominent election candidates in fray this time under Phase 2 of polling. They include Union ministers Jitendra Singh, Jual Oram, Sadananda Gowda, and Pon Radhakrishnan, and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, BJP MP Hema Malini, Senior Congress leader Veerappa Moily, Rajya Sabha lawmaker Kanimozhi, Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Raj Babbar, and National Conference President Farooq Abdullah.
