While Dera Sacha Sauda followers went on violent rampages following Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's conviction in a rape case, the man himself was seen walking into a helicopter along with Honeypreet Insan, Singh's adopted daughter. The Dera chief, accompanied by Honeypreet, was reportedly transported to a jail in Sunaria, Rohtak in a special helicopter. Here's what you need to know about Honeypreet.

Honeypreet's adoption story
Honeypreet, whose real name is Priyanka Taneja, was adopted by the Dera chief in 2009. She was reportedly given the name 'Honeypreet' after her marriage to Vishwas Gupta in 1999. According to Dera insiders, Honeypreet had complained to Singh about pressure from her in-laws regarding dowry. Singh, in response, adopted both Honeypreet and her husband as his daughter and son-in-law respectively.
Ram Rahim Singh accused of sexually exploiting Honeypreet!
Gupta soon fell out with Ram Rahim and demanded judicial custody of his wife Honeypreet in 2011. He also filed a case against Singh for sexually exploiting Honeypreet, but withdrew it later on the basis of an out-of-court settlement.
Like father, like daughter
Just like her step-father Ram Rahim, Honeypreet is believed to be a "prodigy" of sorts among Dera followers. She claims to have learnt directing, editing, and acting without any training. Even more interestingly, she has acted alongside Sigh in almost all of the 50 year-old Dera chief's films since her adoption. Her debut film was MSG The Warrior Lion Heart.
Honeypreet's influence both online and offline
Honeypreet describes herself as "Papa's angel, philanthropist, director, editor and actress" on social media, and has over one million followers on Twitter, and 500,000+ followers on Facebook. She was close to Ram Rahim and climbed in status and influence within the Dera Sacha Sauda. Reportedly, her influence was such that people took her word to be Ram Rahim's decisions.
