Acclaimed harmonium maestro Pandit Tulsidas Borkar passes away
Renowned harmonium player Pandit Tulsidas Borkar passed away on Saturday at a hospital in Mumbai. He was 84. He was being treated for a chest infection and died on Saturday morning, a statement issued by Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital said. About Pandit Tulsidas Borkar
Born in Goa, Borkar made a name for himself as an accomplished harmonium player and was conferred with the Padma Shri in 2016. He was also a recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. Borkar was known for solo performances as well as his unique style of accompanying Indian classical singers. Among others, he accompanied legendary singers Ustad Amir Khan, Bhimsen Joshi, and Kishori Amonkar.
