Over 50 pieces of woman found in fridge; suspect identified
The Bengaluru Police have identified the prime suspect in the alleged murder of a 29-year-old woman, whose dismembered body was discovered inside her refrigerator. The police, who have yet to apprehend the suspect, revealed on Monday that they found more than 50 pieces of the victim's body in her one-bedroom apartment located in Malleshwaram. Six investigative teams have been formed to expedite the case.
Police Commissioner comments on ongoing investigation
Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B Dayananda addressed the media regarding the case, stating, "The case is being investigated from all angles. The prime suspect has been identified and efforts are underway to arrest him." Dayananda added that the suspect is from another state but currently resides in Bengaluru. Further details about the suspect were withheld to prevent aiding his evasion of law enforcement.
Discovery of blue suitcase adds new angle to investigation
In addition to the gruesome discovery in the refrigerator, police also found a blue suitcase near the appliance. This has led investigators to consider whether the assailant intended to transport the body from its current location or if it was brought there from elsewhere. The post-mortem report of the victim, identified as Mahalakshmi, is still pending.
Victim's background revealed amid ongoing investigation
Mahalakshmi was born and raised in Bengaluru. Her family originally hails from Nepal but relocated to Nelamangala 35 years ago. At the time of her death, she was living separately from her husband, Hemanth, in a single-bedroom house. The dismembered body was first discovered by her landlord, who entered the flat to investigate a foul smell that had been troubling the neighborhood for over two days.
