J&K: Over 200 officials transferred ahead of assembly elections
The Jammu and Kashmir administration has announced the transfer of over 200 officers in the Union Territory ahead of the Election Commission's announcement regarding the assembly elections. The poll commission plans to hold assembly elections by September 30, a deadline set by the Supreme Court. The major reshuffle affects both the administration and police departments, with changes taking effect immediately.
New DGP for J&K Police; over 30 officers transferred
As part of the reshuffle, over 30 Jammu and Kashmir Police officers have been transferred, while a new Director General of Police (DGP) has been appointed. The list of transferred officers comprises those at the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) levels. Nitish Kumar, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, has been posted as the Head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), effective immediately.
Other key police transfers include IGP and DIG postings
Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS, has been assigned as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for Police Organization Services (POS), with additional charge of IGP (Headquarters) PHQ and IGP (Telecom). Sunil Gupta, IPS, will now serve as the Incharge IGP Crime for J&K. Other key postings include Dr. Ajeet Singh, IPS, as DIG Traffic Kashmir; Dr. Vinod Kumar, IPS, as Incharge DIG Armed Jammu; and Maqsood-ul-Zaman, IPS, as Incharge DIG North Kashmir Baramulla.
Transfers also affect various AGMUT cadres and JKPS officers
The reshuffle also includes the transfer of 21 other officers from various AGMUT cadres and the Jammu and Kashmir Police Service (JKPS). Some of these transfers include Gurinderpal Singh as SSP Baramulla, Nagpure Amod Ashok as SSP Udhampur, Amritpal Singh as SSP (Tech) CID Headquarters, Mumtaz Ahmed as SSP Poonch, and Mohammad Aslam as SSP Doda. Apart from them, special secretaries, deputy commissioners, and sub-divisional magistrates (SDMs) were also transferred.
