Over 2,400 IAS and IPS posts vacant in India: Govt
Over 2,400 posts of IAS and IPS officers are lying vacant in the country, said Minister of State for Personnel, Jitendra Singh in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha. As many as 1,449 Indian Administrative Service posts or 22.11% of the sanctioned strength of 6,553 are vacant. There are 970 vacancies in the Indian Police Service or 19.64% of the total 4,940 posts.

"The occurrence of vacancies and its filling up is an ongoing process," Singh informed the Upper House while responding to a question about when these vacant posts would be filled.
