J&K: One jawan killed, one injured in 'mysterious firing'
An SSB constable was killed and another injured in a mysterious attack in Banihal in J&K. Shortly before the incident, suspected terrorists had opened fire on security forces in Navyug, Banihal. Later, assault rifles and empty cartridges were recovered from the spot. Forces are investigating what was the cause of the subsequent round of firing. A "blunt object" is believed to be the weapon.
What do we know about the case?
The deceased has been identified as Head Constable Ram Pravesh and the injured as ASI Sham Singh. Police know one thing: there was no retaliatory firing from SSB personnel. It is suspected to either be a terrorist attack or fratricide, said SSP Mohan Lal. But forces are surprised as there has been no reported movement of terrorists through the area in recent times.
