Kanwariyas smash cars, attack police vehicle in Delhi, UP
For the second time in one day, kanwariyas were caught on camera vandalizing property. Tuesday, some 50-60 kanwariyas attacked a police vehicle in Bulandshahr, UP. This happened hours after another group smashed a car in Delhi. The Bulandshahr incident happened after a clash between the youths and locals, TIE reports. When a police team reached the spot, they all attacked it.

What happened in Bulandshahr?
According to police, a local called Pappu was staying with his uncle at Bugrasi Narsena area. Tuesday morning, around 8am, a clash broke out between Pappu and his friends and another group over some "old personal enmity." He then called up his kanwariya friends and the fight intensified. "As soon as a police team reached the spot, they all attacked it," said SO Anil Kumar.
FIR lodged against 50 "unidentified" youths
In the video, youths are seen attacking the car and smashing its windows while a cop tries to bring the mob under control. Finally, the car manages to pull out of the crowd. An FIR has now been filed against 50 'unidentified' youths and eight identified persons including Pappu. A probe is underway. The police is looking for the accused.
In Delhi, they attacked car with baseball bats and sticks
Earlier in Delhi, a driver apparently brushed a kanwariya near Moti Nagar, where they had occupied the entire road and were blocking traffic. When the youths grabbed the driver's collar, his companion slapped one of them. They then unleashed their rage on the car with sticks and baseball bats as the woman and her friend escaped. They fled when police teams reached, when they were trying to set the car on fire.
Why isn't the police more active in handling such vandalism?
Police's inaction has come in for widespread criticism. When violence broke out in Delhi, TOI reports that a few cops were standing nearby, but quietly watched the vandalism. Even though faces of most youths involved were captured on camera, an FIR was filed against "unknown persons."
