Afghan-origin gym owner shot dead in posh Delhi neighborhood
A 35-year-old Afghan-origin gym owner, Nadir Shah, was shot dead outside his gym in the upscale neighborhood of GK 1 in south Delhi on Thursday night, NDTV reported. The incident was captured on CCTV footage, which showed an unidentified man opening fire at Shah while he was talking with another individual near some parked cars. The assailant then fled the scene on a motorcycle parked nearby.
Gang member claims responsibility for Shah's murder
Rohit Godara, a close aide of Goldy Brar from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, has claimed responsibility for the shooting in a social media post. However, the authenticity of the claim hasn't been verified. In his post, Godara said he ordered Shah's killing after receiving a message from his aide Samir Baba—who is currently incarcerated at Tihar—that Shah was interfering with their business deals.
Police investigation reveals Shah's criminal background
The police have revealed that Shah, who also owned a business in Dubai, had several criminal cases against him. He was reportedly a police informer who had connections with senior officials in the Delhi Police. This information has led investigators to suspect that the attack may be part of an ongoing gang war in the area. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still unclear and further details are awaited.
Police and locals provide details of the crime scene
According to police reports, the assailant fired approximately six to eight rounds at Shah. Bullet projectiles and empty cartridges were found at the crime scene. Locals claimed that a woman was present with Shah during the shooting. Teams from Greater Kailash (GK) police station, special staff, and Special Cell have visited the spot to gather facts about the case and are currently searching for the accused.
