Odisha: Woman buries new-born baby in cow-dung, claims was stillborn
In a shocking incident, an Odisha woman allegedly buried her newborn baby in cow dung pit on Wednesday. The woman identified as Masuri Singh delivered the baby near her house in Dhipasahi village. When interrogated by the police, Masuri said she buried the baby boy because he was stillborn. The locals reported to police after foul smell emanated from the spot.
Pregnant and married, woman weds another
The NIE reported Masuri was married to a man named Hindu Singh of Keshapada. Six months ago, after Hindu went back to Kerala to continue his work, Masuri moved back to her parents' house. She then got in touch with another man Rabi Singh of Jalghut. She married the second man, despite being pregnant. Hindu then returned to bring his wife home.
Masuri claims she didn't know what to do with infant
On the day of the incident, Masuri went into the farms to attend nature's call and delivered the baby. She buried the child in a pile of dung and later informed her parents. "Not knowing what to do with the child, I buried him, as he was dead," Masuri said. She didn't reveal the location but locals helped police discover the body.
Meanwhile, police are continuing with the investigation
The police are investigating to learn the exact reason behind Masuri's step. Speaking about his wife's decision, Hindu said, "I was staying in Kerala when I was informed about the turn of events and reached the village to bring her back." The deceased was the couple's second child, they have a daughter too.
