Farmers in Odisha to get trained in modern agricultural practices
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik interacted with farmers of Odisha after inaugurating a training program for them at Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) in Bhubaneswar yesterday, where he assured farmer he will address their issues. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had spoken to farmers across the country yesterday via video-conferencing as part of his outreach program of direct interaction with beneficiaries of his pet-schemes.
Farmers will be trained in modern agricultural practices at OUAT
Patnaik said, "As part of program, two farmers from a panchayat will be imparted training in modern agricultural practices at OUAT. After training, these farmers will in turn, train other farmers to implement the same for enhancing agricultural production." The program will cover farmers of all 314 blocks. The problems faced by farmers include distress sale of their produce and shortage of cold-storage facilities.
PM Modi interacts with farmers through video-conference
The PM had interacted with the farmers of Angul district through video-conferencing on use of modern methods in cultivation. During the talks, a farmer of Durgapur, Benudhar Pradhan, apprised the PM of the success achieved by him through modern agricultural practices and integrated farming. Pradhan said while his father used to earn Rs. 40,000-50,000/year, he has been earning about Rs. 4-5 lakh per annum.
