A student of Class 10 stabs classmate in Odisha
A class 10 student, on Wednesday, stabbed his classmate in the school premises in the Ganjam district of Odisha, police said. The incident took place over a friendly argument at Anchalika Nodal High School in Bada Borasingi village, about 70 km from Berhampur. The 15-year old victim, Amit Nayak, was admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital where his condition was stated stable.
Exact reason behind this drastic step not known
The accused classmate, Subham Bhola, has been detained for questioning, the police said. "The incident occurred when the students were leaving their classroom to drink water at around 11:20 am. Though the exact reason is yet to be known, a petty quarrel between the two students might have been the cause," the School Headmaster Bijay Kumar Sahu said.
A friendly banter turned into a deadly argument
The boys were reportedly laughing over something but later both of them started arguing. One of the students in a fit of rage attacked the other with a knife. The police has started an investigation into the incident. "I don't know anything about the incident that happened. I am shocked to find my son in the hospital," said the victim's mother Sasmita Nayak.
None of the teachers witnessed the incident
"The incident happened just after the drill class. All our teachers had returned to the office from the ground when the unfortunate thing took place," Odishatv quoted a teacher of the school as saying.
