    What's the story

    Admit cards for the prestigious Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2019 will be released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on 17 December 2018.

    NTA, the official authority for conducting JEE Main from 2019, will release the admit cards on the official website, nta.ac.in. The engineering entrance exam will be held twice a year from next year.

    Here's all you need to know.

    The exam

    Admit cards for the JEE Main January session

    The NTA will be conducting JEE Main instead of the CBSE from next year.

    As mentioned earlier, JEE Main will be held twice from 2019; the first edition from 6-20 January 2019 and the second edition in April 2019.

    The admit cards to be released tomorrow are for candidates who registered for the JEE Main that will be conducted in January.

    JEE Main serves as qualifying exam for JEE Advanced

    The JEE Main is a national level entrance exam conducted for admission in BTech, BE, BArch, and BPlan courses in prestigious institutes like NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs.

    Several other private engineering institutes also consider a student's JEE Main score for admission.

    JEE Main also serves as a qualifying exam for the JEE Advanced, the admission test for the IITs.

    Procedure

    How can students download their admit cards?

    To download JEE Main admit cards, candidates need to visit the official website, choose the admit card option, and enter their details like application number and password.

    After that, their admit card will be displayed which can be downloaded.

    In case they are unable to download the admit cards, students must contact the NTA on the help desk numbers provided on its website.

    Here's the official NTA notification

    "The candidate has to download his/her Admit Card from the NTA's website w.e.f. 17.12.2018 onwards and appear for the examination at the given Center on Date and Shift as indicated in their Admit Card," said an official notification by the NTA.

    Admit cards will not be sent by post

    Candidates can get their admit cards only through the official website as these will not be sent by post.

    Exam details like the date, shift, name of the exam center, and city will be provided in the admit card.

    Students must ensure that their personal information mentioned in the admit card is correct; in case of any errors, they should contact the NTA.

    Details

    Preserve the admit card; no duplicates will be issued later

    Candidates must preserve the printout of their admit cards carefully; they shouldn't mutilate the admit card or make any changes to it. They should read the given instructions and follow the same during the conduct of JEE Main.

    Students without a valid admit card will not be permitted for the exam and no duplicates will be issued to the candidates at the exam centers.
