IRCTC: Know chances/probability of waitlisted train ticket getting confirmed
Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has launched a new service, under which the passengers can check the probability of their waitlisted ticket getting confirmed, while booking tickets online on the new IRCTC website or app. The facility is based on an algorithm developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS). Here's more on this.
IRCTC's new website
A few months back, the IRCTC had launched a new and refurbished website. Among other services and facilities, one can inquire or search for trains and check availability of seats, without having to log in to their account, unlike the previous website.
How to check chances of your waitlisted ticket getting confirmed
First off, log on to the new IRCTC website. Then, proceed with entering journey details such as date, class of travel, destination etc. In case of waitlisted ticket, the user gets the option of checking the probability of confirmation under 'CNF Probability' button. Before making the booking, click on this button to know the probability of your ticket getting confirmed.
How does the 'PNF Probability' facility work?
The new, 'PNF Probability' facility follows an algorithm developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS). The algorithm takes into account data of past 13 years to arrive at a workable model, and brings forward realistic and appropriate responses.
