October gift: Noida-Greater Noida Metro link to become operational
In a development that's set to being relief to a lot of metro commuters, the 30km Noida-Greater Noida metro line will become operational from October, said officials. The link that will have 21 metro stations is likely to have a passenger count of 1.2L per day, which will triple by 2031. Currently trial run is being conducted on a 23km stretch in this line.
DMRC will oversee operations, maintenance for initial years
In a meeting held yesterday between Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) and DMRC, it was decided that the latter will take care of maintenance and operations of the line, also known as Aqua line, for initial years. NMRC MD Alok Tandon said till their staff gets trained, 100 DMRC officials will be overseeing the functioning. For this, DMRC will be paid Rs. 3cr annually.

After the ongoing trial run, NMRC will start end-to-end trials soon. "Subsequently, safety inspections will be conducted." They are expecting to get clearances by September, so that operations can start from the next month itself. "It'll be the longest Metro line in the country to become operational at one go," Tandon claimed. For now, the 26-km stretch of Dwarka-Barakhamba holds that record.
It'll provide "seamless connectivity with the IGI airport, Delhi-NCR"
Meanwhile, DMRC officials said they have received five trains and six more are being dispatched. Once the line becomes operational, it'll provide seamless connectivity with the Indira Gandhi International airport and other parts of Delhi-NCR, to the Noida and Greater Noida commuters. Among the metro stations, Sector-52 station will connect to Sector 18 of Noida and Kalindi Kunj link of Delhi.
The 30km metro line is elevated from ground
Officials said the 30km line is elevated and at a height of 23mts from the ground. "The Noida-Greater Noida track has an aesthetic look the point where it crosses over the Yamuna Expressway," a DMRC official said. Notably, NMRC was formed in 2014 and was given the charge of this Rs. 5,503cr project. After seven months, it roped in DMRC for construction purposes.
